Basic Studio Policies

 1. PAYMENT POLICY:  Payment must be made, preferably by check, at the first lesson of the month for the entire month’s lessons (usually four lessons).  Exceptions will be granted in certain circumstances. An invoice with the monthly schedule and total will be emailed to you before the first lesson of the month.  Families registering 3+ students will receive a 5% discount.

Any music that I purchase for the student may either be paid for at the lesson in which they receive it or will be added to the next month's invoice.

2. CANCELLATION POLICY:   As a general rule, there will be no refunds or credits for missed lessons except in the case of illness or snow/ice/winter weather.  Please notify me at least 24 hrs. in advance if your child will be unable to attend a lesson. (Emergencies will be dealt with on a case-by-case basis.)  When circumstances permit (for example, when the roads are too bad for safe travel), the in-studio lesson will be replaced with a Zoom internet lesson instead of being canceled entirely.

When possible, notify me of any potential conflicts/cancellations before the next month begins so that I can make any needed corrections to the schedule before sending out the new invoice.  I am happy to look at the calendar and try to reschedule a lesson if given enough notice.

If I have to cancel a student’s lesson, you will not be charged for that lesson. Except in the case of illness, I will usually be able to give you plenty of advance notice.  I will try to offer alternate lesson times, as circumstances permit.

3. PRACTICE POLICY:  Each student is expected to practice regularly for a length of time appropriate to the student’s age and level of music. As a general guideline, I recommend practice sessions that match the length of the weekly lesson.  Practice suggestions will be given during the lessons.  Regular practice is essential for the student’s overall progress and for our making the most out of each lesson. If you have questions about the length of practice time needed or about practice routines/habits, please ask. I will be happy to clarify and discuss my expectations, specifically for your child.
